Meet Our Team
Dr. Mounir Soliman D.V.M.

Dr. Soliman D.V.M. graduated from the University of Cairo in Egypt in
1971. He worked for the Egyptian Government doing meat inspection until
he entered the army. When he finished his service he worked in Animal
Reproduction. In 1977, he immigrated to the USA and began training for
his foreign graduate requirements, in several small and large
animal veterinary hospitals. He met his wife Dr.Simard in New Jersey
when they worked in the same animal hospital. They moved to New
Hampshire and finally Maine in 1986, where they started practicing in
their home. Dr Soliman enjoys theater, drawing, creativity and yard
sales. He loves to spend time with his daughters Margen and Nadia. He
also enjoys traveling to Egypt to visit with his family.
Dr. Alicia Simard D.V.M.
Dr. Simard D.V.M. received her B.S. and D.V.M. from Cornell University
in 1983. Eager to return to Maine, she opened the Biddeford Animal
Hospital with her husband, Dr. Soliman, in 1986. Dr. Simard has lived
and/or practiced in Connecticut, Maine, New York, and New Jersey. She
enjoys the wide range of challenges general practice offers and has
attended annual focus conferences on geriatrics, physical therapy,
endocrine, and exotic medicine. To stay energized, Alicia enjoys
traveling with her two daughters, gardening, hiking, camping, and
kayaking.
Dr. Erin Brearley D.V.M.
Dr. Brearley grew up just outside of Burlington, Vermont. She then headed south for college, where she graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina. She received her DVM degree from the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. While in Florida, Dr. Brearley was certified at the Chi Institute in acupuncture and Chinese veterinary food therapy. After eight years in the south, Dr. Brearley is happy to be back in New England.
Dr. Brearley's pets include Daisy, a scruffy mutt she adopted while in vet school, and a michevious cat with no tail named Sawyer. In her free time, Dr. Brearley enjoys exploring Maine, reading, hiking and cooking.

Shannon Miller Lead Receptionist/Inventory Manager
Shannon likes to travel and has found her home here in Maine. Born in Colorado,
Shannon grew up in New Mexico before moving to Texas, where she worked
in a Veterinary clinic for four years. After deciding to move close to
her husband’s family, Shannon came to Maine and joined the Biddeford
Animal Hospital in the Winter of 2006. With her in Maine are her
husband, her daughter (the light of her life) and a two dogs named Sandy and Riley.
In her free time, Shannon is most likely found in the woods of Maine
camping and fishing, come rain or shine.
Janice Casavant Receptionist
Janice was born and raised in Biddeford. All her life, her dream was to work with animals. After working as an office manager for 25 years, her dream came true. She started working with us in May 2007 and loves it more everyday. Janice loves to travel and has gone across the country several times visiting many states. She keeps busy walking her dogs and taking care of and riding her horses. She is married and has a daughter living in the south, whom also works for a veterinarian.
Jennifer Durkee Receptionist
Jennifer
was born in Lynn Massachusetts. She moved to Maine when she was eight
years old. She has two boxers named Vegas, and Bella. She has always enjoyed working with
animals, and she is accomplishing this every day at Biddeford Animal Hospital.
Jennifer's interests outside of work include Boating, fishing, four wheeling and camping.
Lynn Beals Receptionist

Lynn grew up in Massachusetts, but came to love Maine by working many summers here at a summer camp teaching horseback riding. She graduated fro the University of Southern Maine with a degree in English, but after spending many years as a stay-at-home mom, she decided to nurture her love of animals by joining our team in December 2010. She loves to learn and is excited to be learning so much here. She shares a home with her husband, their three children, and a cat named Babette, whom they adopted in 2009. When not at work, Lynn enjoys spending time with her family, reading, gardening, sewing, singing and photography.
Heather Gilman A.S. Lead Technician

Heather was born in Biddeford, and has lived in Maine her whole life. She currently lives with her four cats, (Chalupa, Budda, Puck and Kubota) her Rottweiler Roxy and her Corn snake (Pandora). Heather has been with Biddeford Animal Hospital since the summer of 2003; she started here with an internship from New Hampshire Community Technical College. She graduated from NHCTC in 2004 and has been working full time with us since then. She enjoys learning and has recently developed an interest in reptiles. Other interests include behavior and nutrition. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her pets, drawing animals, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Tracy Shaw Veterinary Assistant
Tracy started here in January of 2011. Tracy came to B.A.H. after working as a Kennel Supervisor at another animal hospital. Aspiring to further his career he is working on becoming a Veterinary Technician and maybe becoming a veterinarian one day. He shares his home with his wife, daughter and two pets shown in the picture. Tracy enjoys raising his daughter, learning about the animal care field, and watching all the Boston sports teams!
Valerie Keene B.S. Veterinary Assistant
Valerie is a graduate from Colorado State University with a Bachelors degree in Zoology. Long Term she aspires to continue on to graduate school to pursue a career in conservation biology with a concentration on captive breeding research and working towards stabilizing endangered populations. Short term she is working to expand her wealth of knowledge by getting involved in volunteer positions and activities where there is much to learn. She enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, meeting new people and learning.
Kathy Labrador Veterinary Assistant
Kathy has been part of our family since 2004. She is very energetic and outgoing. She loves anything that brings a thrill, snowboarding, skiing and four wheeling. There is a warm side to Kathy, she has lots of love for animals of any kind. She has a few pets herself, 2 dogs, 6 chickens, 3 cats, she calls them her "Kids". Family is huge to her, her family and friends mean everything to her, they are her inspiration to succeed.
Terry Frances Kennel Manager / Receptionist
Terry joined B.A.H. in Feb. of 2007. She previously owned and operated a day care center in Saco for 19 years. She has always been interested in animals, especially dogs. She has a very handsome Springer Spaniel, named Pacer. She really enjoys her work at Biddeford Animal Hospital.
