Meet Our Team
Dr. Mounir Soliman
D.V.M.
Dr. Soliman D.V.M. graduated from the University of Cairo in Egypt in
1971. He worked for the Egyptian Government doing meat inspection until
he entered the army. When he finished his service he worked in Animal
Reproduction. In 1977, he immigrated to the USA and began training for
his foreign graduate requirements, in several small and large
animal veterinary hospitals. He met his wife Dr.Simard in New Jersey
when they worked in the same animal hospital. They moved to New
Hampshire and finally Maine in 1986, where they started practicing in
their home. Dr Soliman enjoys theater, drawing, creativity and yard
sales. He loves to spend time with his daughters Margen and Nadia. He
also enjoys traveling to Egypt to visit with his family.
Dr. Alicia Simard D.V.M.
Dr. Simard D.V.M. received her B.S. and D.V.M. from Cornell University
in 1983. Eager to return to Maine, she opened the Biddeford Animal
Hospital with her husband, Dr. Soliman, in 1986. Dr. Simard has lived
and/or practiced in Connecticut, Maine, New York, and New Jersey. She
enjoys the wide range of challenges general practice offers and has
attended annual focus conferences on geriatrics, physical therapy,
endocrine, and exotic medicine. To stay energized, Alicia enjoys
traveling with her two daughters, gardening, hiking, camping, and
kayaking.
Dr. Erin Brearley D.V.M.
Dr. Brearley D.V.M. is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Vermont before attending Clemson University in South Carolina. From there she continued on to Veterinary School in Florida. While in vet school Dr. Brearley was certified at the Chi Institute in Acupuncture and Chinese Veterinary Food Therapy. After eight years in the south she is happy to be back in New England. Dr. Brearley has one "scruffy mutt" named Daisy that she adopted while in vet school. She likes to read, sew, and hike in her free time.
David Kinnison B.A.
Practice Manager

Dave
was born and grew up not far away in the seacoast of New Hampshire. He
then moved away to Michigan for four years while his wife attended the
College of Veterinary Medicine to become a veterinarian. While in
Michigan, Dave got a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from
Davenport University. Dave and his wife then moved back to New England
in the summer of 2005. Throughout the last 15 years he has gained a
large amount of business experience working his way up in retail to
store management. Dave started with the Biddeford Animal Hospital in January 2008 as the Practice Manager. He enjoys spending time with his
two cats Jiminy and Cricket as well as with his two dogs Casey & Sierra. His hobbies
include kayaking, hiking, camping, and digital photography.

Shannon Miller Lead Receptionist
Shannon likes to travel and has found her home here in Maine. Born in Colorado, Shannon grew up in New Mexico before moving to Texas, where she worked in a Veterinary clinic for four years. After deciding to move close to her husband’s family, Shannon came to Maine and joined the Biddeford Animal Hospital in the Winter of 2006. With her in Maine are her husband, her daughter (the light of her life) and a dog named Dakota. In her free time, Shannon is most likely found in the woods of Maine camping and fishing, come rain or shine.

Janice Casavant Receptionist
Janice was born and raised in Biddeford. Her dream was to work with animals.
After working as an office manager for 25 years, her dream has come
true. She started working with us in May, 2007, and loves it more each
day. She loves traveling and has visited Colorado for the last four
years. She and her husband keep busy walking the dogs and taking care
of her horses. She has a daughter now living in Kentucky.

Kelly Wilmont Receptionist
Kelly started working with us in 1996. She took some time off to work from home when her daughter was born and then again when her youngest son was born. But she has always returned to her "Home away from Home". She was born in Sanford but raised in Biddeford. She met her husband in high school in 1994 and now they have three beautiful children. They both share a deep love for animals and currently share their house with 2 dogs, a cat, a canary, a chinchilla and a dwarf rabbit. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, watching movies, painting and reading the Bible.
Jennifer Durkee Receptionist
Jennifer
was born in Lynn Massachusetts. She moved to Maine when she was eight
years old. She has boxers named Vegas, and Bella. She has always wanted to work with
animals, and she is accomplishing this at Biddeford Animal Hospital.
Jennifer's interests outside of work include Boating, fishing, four wheeling and camping.

Emily Paine L.V.T. Lead Technician
Emily graduated from the University College of Bangor's veterinary technology program in 2008 and became a Licensed technician in June of that year. She spent almost two years at The Veterinary Centre of Cape Elizabeth before relocating to Biddeford Animal Hospital in March of 2008. She has a special interest in exotic medicine and surgical nursing, and also spends some of her free time doing volunteer and animal rescue work. She currently lives with her small "zoo", which includes a crazy dog, 2 guinea pigs, a bearded dragon, a leopard gecko, a ball python, several fish, and a very tolerant boyfriend. All of Emily's pets are animals that she rescued! It makes her life a little crazy, but she wouldn't have it any other way.
Heather Gilman A.S. Technician / Inventory Manager

Heather was born in Biddeford, and has lived in Maine her whole life. She currently lives with her three cats, (Rudy, Budda, and Nova) her Rottweiler, (Roxy), and her Corn snake (Pandora). Heather has been with Biddeford Animal Hospital since the summer of 2003; she started here with an internship from New Hampshire Community Technical College. She graduated from NHCTC in 2004 and has been working full time with us since then. She enjoys learning and has recently developed an interest in reptiles. Other interests include behavior and nutrition. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her pets, drawing animals, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Julie Houle Veterinary Assistant
Julie
was born in Biddeford and grew up in North Saco until age twelve. She
then moved to downtown Saco/Biddeford. She always had a love of
animals, and especially loves working with them. She worked two years
at the West Kennebunk Shelter where she developed a skill of working
with animals that had behavioral problems and took them through
obedience classes. She is still currently volunteering at the shelter
as well as working at BAH, which she loves. She is mother to a
lovely eleven year old girl, Miranda.

Valerie Keene B.S. Veterinary Assistant
Valerie is a graduate from Colorado State University with a Bachelors degree in Zoology. Long Term she aspires to continue on to graduate school to pursue a career in conservation biology with a concentration on captive breeding research and working towards stabilizing endangered populations. Short term she is working to expand her wealth of knowledge by getting involved in volunteer positions and activities where there is much to learn. She enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, meeting new people and learning.
Kathy Labrador Veterinary Assistant
Kathy has been part of our family since 2004. She is very energetic and outgoing. She loves anything that brings a thrill, snowboarding, skiing and four wheeling. There is a warm side to Kathy, she has lots of love for animals of any kind. She has a few pets herself, 2 dogs, 2 chickens, 4 cats, she calls them her "Kids". Family is huge to her, her family and friends mean everything to her, they are her inspiration to succeed. We are happy to have her back with us again.
Melanie Emmons Veterinary Assistant

Mel is the newest member to our growing team joining us in October 2009. Mel is currently a veterinary technician student at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth with an anticipated graduation in May of 2010.

Terry Frances Kennel Manager
Terry is married with 2 children in high school. She previously owned and operated a day care center in Saco for 19 years. She has always been interested in animals, especially dogs. She has a very handsome Springer Spaniel, named Pacer. She really enjoys her work at Biddeford Animal Hospital
