The History of Biddeford Animal Hospital

Biddeford Animal Hospital began in 1986 as a family-owned small animal hospital operating solely out of the Soliman' s home.

The hospital expanded to 3 veterinarians in 1991.  The need for a more spaceous waiting area for the dogs and cats, as well as larger exam rooms and treatment space necessitated the move in 1994 to Biddeford Animal Hospital's current location at 556 Elm Street.

The evolving nature of veterinary medicine and client's needs have influenced many changes at Biddeford Animal Hospital since 1986. Twenty-four hour Emergency Care is now a specialty provided by the Animal Emergency Clinic at Warren Avenue in Portland. Ultrasound, endoscopy, and dental techniques are provided on site as welll as through referrals to specialists.

Pain Control has been found to help healing and is now a recommended part of any surgery procedure. Anaesthetized animals have always had heart monitors on during procedures. Blood pressure and oxygen levels are also now monitored.

A focus on early detection and preventive care has meant many animal companions live well into their teens now.
